Rocks Hard, Plays Easy

Control Panel

Used to select primary list or functions in Concrete DJ.

Control Panel Window

The drop-down Media List in the Control Panel lets you navigate between different lists and other functions of Concrete DJ, when you are playing.  You can also search your media library by artist or title.

All Items, Recently Played Items, Duplicate Items, Explicit Items, Holiday Items, Media Explorer, and Requests

All Items, Recently Played Items, Duplicate Items, Explicit Items, and Holiday Items are each different views of your Concrete DJ media library.  Media Explorer lets you easily browse drive(s) or networks and list folders with media files.  Requests is a special list that contains requests sent by guests during a DJ performance from Self-DJ in Requests mode.

With all these list items:

  • Select one or more items then drag-and-drop on players to play
  • Click column headers to sort list items
  • Drag the vertical bar on column headers to resize columns

Hold the Ctrl key while clicking to select more than one item

Launcher with player and playlist status

Karaoke

This is a special list.  If a corresponding .lrc file is found in the same folder as the sound file being played, lyrics are displayed, karaoke-style in this resizable window.

  • For more information about .LRC files and free downloads, search the web.  There are a number of free download sites.

  • Since .LRC files are text files, you can create your own or fine-tune then to custom mixes, by using a simple text editor like Notepad.

.LRC files must be names EXACTLY the same as the sound file but with the extension .lrc

Player Status

This is a real-time display of all active players and the items on their playlists.

  • Click to the right of an empty player number to launch another player.

  • Click an active player to close it.

Using this list is similar to clicking the Shifter to launch or close players

Sound Effects

Sound Effects is a list of sound files in the \Sounds folder available for sound-on-sound effects, played independently, yet mixed with the currently playing item.  Use included sound effects and put other sound effects you want available in the \ Sounds folder to appear in the list.

  • Play sound-on-sound effects like crowd cheers or drum-rolls, instantly, by clicking a sound in the list.  Change the volume and output device as needed.  View a sound visualization during playback.

  • Default sounds used during normal operation of Concrete DJ include startup.wav, shutdown.wav, and soundcheck.wav and can be changed to your own custom sounds.

  • All sound files found in the Sounds folder when Concrete DJ starts up will be listed

Use the same output device as players for sound-on-sound

Real-Time Events

View the real-time events log from the beginning to view versions and other system start-up options.  As songs are played and other things happen, view this list player and system information and error messges.

  • View real-time player and system events  (Double Standard edition and higher).  See what is happening, when it is happening.  Very handy when managing players on multiple output devices at the same time.

Note

Launch as many notes windows as the number of players your edition is licensed for.  They are handy on-screen reminders when DJ'ing.

  • Launch Notes windows to jot things down and stay organized when you need to.
