Rocks Hard, Plays Easy

Using iTunes® as a donor

Updating and exporting a library

It all started with an apple.

   Example using iTunes®

Your music library is the hub of your digital music collection.  Your sound files are the spokes.  No matter which media players or DJ software you use, having a well organized music library is the key.  A good music library is more than just a list of your songs.  iTunes® has the most comprehensive music library and is the best donor when creating a new library in Concrete DJ.  The only disadvantage is that the files are poorly named and hard to search outside of iTunes.  Using Concrete Merge is recommended.

Run iTunes®
You can download iTunes® at http://www.apple.itunes.com

Click File, Add Folder to Library and update information
To create a new library click File, Add Folder to Library then browse to the drive and folder with your music files.  Make sure the option to update information is checked.  This begins the lengthy, but thorough, process where iTunes® downloads missing tag information for mp3 and some other formats, and updates its music library.

Please wait
Be aware that this process can take a long time.  The benefit is that iTunes® significantly enhances your library by getting missing track information from Internet services and by adding extra fields of data like a normalization value computed by Apple.  This normalization value can be used in the Super Pro and higher editions stand-alone, or to set the initial player volume for each song before ANT™ (Automatic Normalization Technology) takes over.

Click File, Export
Export the entire iTunes® music library to your desktop as an .XML file.

Drag-and-drop the export file on a Concrete DJ™ player
Drag-and-drop the iTunes® music library .XML file on any player to import it and create your  music library in Concrete DJ for the first time.
