Rock on...

FAQ or How to rock with Concrete DJ™

I already have playlists and a music library in my other software

We figured that.  Chances are you've already created playlists in Windows Media Player®, iTunes®, PC DJ®, other DJ software, or have an existing music library.  You can drag and drop playlists, mp3s and other sound files, even CD tracks, on any Concrete DJ player to play them right away.  In addition to industry standard playlists types like .m3u, Concrete DJ also plays wpl playlists from Windows Media Player®.  The convenience of Concrete DJ makes it easy to use playlists you've already created with other players by just dragging and dropping them on a Concrete DJ player.

If you already have a music library in other software, Concrete DJ can import entire music libraries in .XML format from iTunes®, PC DJ® and Windows Media Player®.  Just export it from your other software and then drag and drop it on any player to start the process.  That's all there is to it.  This works best with iTunes®.

If you are using Windows Media Player®, install and use the Winter 2003 Player Pack to export more information.

I have sound files but don't have playlists or a music library yet

Concrete DJ has a working relationship with Concrete Merge.  Just the follow the prompts to hunt down your music and let Concrete Merge help you build a solid music library, the easy way.  Or Not.  You can always drag and drop sound files on Concrete DJ players to get rockin' right away and figure it out as you go.  While there are many advanced features, the basics are very straightforward.  Playlists and libraries have many benefits, but it is best if you have your music organized BEFORE you put it in a library for best results.  After you've used Concrete Merge to reorganized and copy your collection to an external hard drive, or other location, you will find it much easier to enjoy your music.  Deal with playlists and libraries ss you have time.

See How to build your music library for more information.

   I'm just getting started

If you are just getting started and don't yet have a digital sound file collection, the best way is to use the built-in ripper to create sound files from audio CD's and start building your library in Concrete DJ.  With today's low cost hard drives, take advantage of Concrete DJ's super high fidelity mp3 and other formats ripped with the best encoders available.  Build your music collection using premium quality digital sound files created with Concrete DJ.  If you have an active Internet connection, track, title, year and genre are added automatically.  Having the correct genre is important for Concrete DJ to be able to automatically choose the correct EQ preset when loading tunes.  You'll enjoy building your album art collection too.  Album art is downloaded automatically and saved with standard file names so you can find it later.  All album art is stored in C:\AlbumArt as Artist - Album.jpg, centralizing your art collection in one place, just like your other media files.

While you can also download mp3s and other sound files off the web, there are some things you should know.  See How to rip audio CDs for more information.
